The fish was awesome but for lunch, strictly in my opinion, it was too much food and to pricy. The concept of paying a flat priced meal including tax, tip, drink and entree is great. $15 isn't affordable for many folks for lunch. Had the portion been half as much and the price $7 or $8, the review would have been 5 stars. The quality of the food was great, the service was a little off (details like a straw, utensils and napkin not presented until after I had my food), and the venue was clean and cool decor. I would have loved to try other menu items but this type of venue at these prices, this will be 'special occasion' or date night place for my budget. I would love for the menu to be a little more reasonable and be able to take the whole family but I'm sure that my demographic is not the owner's target audience.
Wonderful atmosphere coupled with equally wonderful food. I visited for a quick lunch and ordered the fish and chips. It was definitely the freshest, best tasting fish and chips I've had. The service was quick and the pricing was fair. I can't wait to try the next menu item!
The food is pretty good, nothing exceptional. However, Scottish and English food is not generally known for blowing your mind with flavor. I had the steak(special for the night) and sampled the fish and chips and the steak pie that others had ordered. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their meal. Next time, I'll order the fish and chips. Service was great. They were busy(reservations are recommended) and since our appetizer was taking a while, it was comped by the manager and he apologized for the delay. As stated by other reviewers, the noise level is very high when it's busy. We had a party of 8 and being seated at a rectangular table made it virtually impossible to have a conversation with anyone that's not seated directly next to you. The atmosphere/decor is spot on and the the location is a plus here at Christmastime after dark since the square is well decorated. I posted a picture of the Pubs Christmas tree since others had already provided food pics.
Ever the master of intentional design, they've solved the age old problem of sitting under a cold air conditioning register by installing horizontal defusers on all the ceiling registers. Dart boards have the throw line inlaid on the hardwood floor. Bathroom door has a "pull step" so you don't have use a paper towel to open. Food is good. Drinks are strong. Atmosphere is lively. In short, everything you'd expect from an upscale Scottish pub. The Square needed Highlander. It was the only place showing welcome signs of life on a Friday night. A+ experience! Will return soon!
Again, the food was awesome and worth a premium at the size portion you received. I would have easily spilt the plate with my wife and been fine. I hope this place is wildly successful and does well.
Excellent service and good prices. We had Parker as our service and he was very knowledgeable of the menu and johnny on the spot with anything we needed. The fish and chips is a *massive* fish fillet and delicious. And all taxes and tips are included in the menu price, what you see on the menu is what you pay on your bill.
